As another Super Tuesday approaches, America’s eyes are all on Ohio and Texas as they might very well be the deciding states in the 2008 Democratic representative for the office of President of the United States of America. Unlike previous Presidential nominations, this election has attracted a large number of young voters who are becoming more aware with the issues and more involved with the televised debates. Here at Visiondecor, we have deliberated and voted for the next candidate for the most stylish furniture piece. The Arc Floor Lamp (picture below) is the definition of a modern design.

Modern designs has always followed a few basic principles, which is to create brilliant designs while keeping it as simple as possible. Visiondecor was inspired by a previous design by famous industrial designer Achille Castiglioni called the Arco Floor Lamp. To this day, the Arc Floor Lamp is still a widely recognizable design by Castiglioni. Modern furniture (industrial) designs is the epitome of Castigioni and his work.
Our Arc Floor Lamp is a satin stainless steal arc with a sturdy black marble base. This item does not include a light bulb, but the preferred light bulb is at least a 100 watt light bulb, however, you can easily replace it with an Energy Saving Light Bulb that you can find at your local hardware store. (To keep in line with the simple design, the on off switch is a foot switch at the base of the floor lamp.)
Modern furniture designs are always uniquely inspired by European designs. Company’s such as Ikea, Design Within Reach (DWR), and Pottery Barn often look towards designers such as Castiglioni for inspiration and direction. Check out other simple modern designs in the floor lamp section.

Some people have been asking what is ‘microfiber‘? Is this a new material? And what are the applications of microfiber in the home? So here are some basic information about microfiber and how it is used in household items and furniture.

Microfiber is a type of highly woven fiber that is measured by ‘denier’ (which measures the linear mass density of a fiber). A microfiber is only considered a ‘microfiber‘ if the density is less than a denier. The fact that microfiber is less dense than most common fibers manufacturers can create more durable materials, provide softer material, and a more densely packed material.
These qualities can enhance the most common household products. For example, a simple hand cloth will not only last months (and maybe years) after purchase, but can absorb and clean dirt off of tables without scratching the surface.
Some other common applications of microfiber are car washing rags, clothing, and insulation for homes. However, a more common and named application of microfiber is the microfiber couch.
Microfiber couches are enhanced purely by the qualities of the microfiber itself (yet not all the features). A microfiber couch is very durable and can withstand extreme wear and tear conditions. Also, it is very comfortable and has a very soft feeling and touch. The only difference is that most microfiber couches are treated with a water repellent that also reduces the amount of dirt and grime that could find it’s way onto the couch. So, water simply beads off the couch or easily wiped away.
Try out the feel and the comfort of a microfiber couch. It’s quality is outstanding and it will change the way you feel about fabric used in furniture today.
