It’s August, and either you have a kid going back to school in college or you’ve moved to a new pad! Whether it is a dorm room or apartment there’s a budget and space to be concerned with. My friend told me that when he bought stuff for his pad he always considered the price, the quality to last at least 1 year and the movability of that item. So here are a few of my own picks for things (all under $100) to get for a dorm room or apartment.
3 PC Santoku Chef’s Grade Sushi Knives – $29.20

Everyone's got a laptop and especially in your apartment I want to be able to use it everywhere! Despite the name, laptop, I don't like to seat it on my lap. Hence, this wonderful invention. A foldable leg laptop tray that I can use on the bed, couch, floor! Nice. Talk about portability and comfortability.
Walnut Wood Foldable Laptop Tray – $42.49

CDs, Folders, Books, DVDs all over the place!!?!?! This is a great media rack to put it all on and centralize it to where you can find that Iron Man DVD!
Cotemporary Media Storage Unit - $52.99

Looking for your remote? That copy of GQ or Vogue? Or the phone.... Well, this is a stylish idea to put all the clutter on a modern styled contemporary side table stand. I never thought clutter can be made to look somewhat good
Espresso Four Tier Side Table Stand – $60.60

Some of us are cheap and want to save on the A/C costs. Some of us are also "green" and want to cut down on energy carbon footprint use. But in any case, I like that my fan can look good in my pad. Rather than an ugly plastic fan, this is something I can love to have sitting on my table top keeping me feeling cool as well as my decor looking cool!
6″ Copper Table Top Fan – $60.60
(hmmm, I just realized this cost the same as the side table above… go figure)
Black Halogen Floor Lamp 71″ – $78.59

Have a lot of shoes? Or have a roommate that has a lot of shoes? Or just have a lot of roommates that with all the shoes added up you can't find your own? Clear up that entryway and organize them! I have this at home and it actually creates a lot of floor space.
Cherry Wood Shoe Storage Cabinet – $76.19

Still looking for that Iron Man DVD???!!?!?! Ok, maybe you're one of those movie buffs that has like 100 soundtracks and movies. Well, organize some of it with some of these rather than pile it up in Babylon towers of CD's and DVD's next to your TV (that may be sitting on the floor as well).
DVD Media Tower – $79.99

I know a lot of us are "pilers". Clothing pilers, meaning we just pile those shorts and jeans and shirts wherever we can. Well, this is a towel rack, but it is also quite useful to "pile" your clothes on. I always say, if I'm gonna wear it within the week, why fold it? just hang it on top of the towel rack in the order of days it's gonna be worn. Layer by layer I peel it off to wear
.
Walnut Towel Rack – $88.50

No room for a full sized computer desk? Or desk? Well, this can be used to save space while you're not using the space and fold out the table top whe you need it. It's perfect for that tight spot work area you need when you need it.
Folding Drop Leaf Table – $95.30
Well, that’s pretty much it for decorating your pad on a budget (both for $$$ and $pace). Ok, gotta get working on that next version of this blog…
