cooking knife

I love to cook.  I’ve tried cooking in other people’s kitchens and the thing I miss the most is how sharp my own knives are.  Some people are a one knife kind of cook and some need a knife for every different thing they cut.  I’m more of a “knife for cooked food”, “knife for raw food”, and “knife for slicing” kind of cook.

Slice and Dice!

Slice and Dice! Knife Set.

A Lot of People Bought This Set
The Santoku Sushi Knife set is the one that fits the bill for me.  Yes, I know there are those knife sets that cost hundreds of dollars but you won’t believe how sharp these are for less than $40 bucks shipped.  And if you are good with a sharpening block you can keep these sharp forever.  Yes, they are called sushi knives, but for me they cut meat, fish, and poultry quite well.

Sharp Knives are Important
Do you know how important it is to have sharp knives?  For one thing it is safer because you don’t have to use more force than you need to which will risk extra movement and you may end up cutting yourself or dropping the knife (and hopefully not dropping it on your foot!).  Another thing is that sharp knives are cleaner as the edges cut clean and have less chance of “stuff” getting lodged into the micro-cracks in the metal.

What are those holes for?
Do you see those holes in the knife in the middle?  Beats me what they are actually for, but I use them to hold it with the other hand when I slice and dice veggies or meat.  It works like a lever almost.

A Diamond in the Rough
I would say buying a good set of knives, expensive or cheap, are very hard to find at an affordable price.  But IMHO (if you don’t know what that means, check out this post on internet acronyms I did a few days ago), you don’t need to pay a few hundred dollars for a brand name to get a good knife set.  The knife set just needs to be good quality and cut what you need to cook.  For $40 bucks shipped to your door, I think this sushi knife set is a pretty good deal.  But you don’t have to take my word for it, dozens of customers left reviews saying these are good knives and hundreds have bought them already.
