When I Think Hair Style: James Dean, haha

When I Think Hair Style: James Dean, haha

I’m kinda weird.  When it comes to using daily consumer products I tend not to use “generous” portions as the back of the bottle says I should.  I don’t why, maybe because I’m cheap or I just don’t think it’s necessary to use so much chemical on my body.  I figure a little bit is enough to do the trick.  So I have a story to tell about hair gel (and no, it’s not like anything from “Something About Mary”).

Aloe Vera for Hair too?
So one day, as I’m squeezing the last bit of hair glue to style my hair, I realize I had no more to squeeze.  I’m in a rush to eat lunch with my parents, so I look around and see a bottle of aloe.  Hmmm, I think to myself, why not?  I pump a palm full of the stuff into my hand, spread it around and then style my hair.  It worked out pretty well.  I now also use both a little bit of hair glue and aloe to mix it up a bit.  It works better than before and I get more volume to work with in styling my hair (let alone for my sunburn needs.)

Lotion.
So past the aloe and hair glue running out I just recently been in a situation with none of that at all.  It was a recent trip to Maui where my fiance packed everything… except for my hair gel.  So I’m thinking to myself “humid weather, no hair gel, I guess I can have fuzzy hair for the next week.”  But then I started looking around the hotel room.  Sun block?  Nah, that would be to sticky white and messy.  Hotel shampoo or conditioner?  Maybe not since the stuff wasn’t meant to hold.  So then I noticed the lotion and gave it a try.  It is quite hard to manage but it actually works.  So for a week, I used lotion to style my hair.

I have short hair
Well, my hair is kinda short so I wouldn’t take my word for aloe or lotion to be long term fixes for hair styling.  Besides, I’m sure hair gel is cheaper.  But in case of emergency it’s ok to be a bit creative with hair gel, I know I did and my hair came out pretty nourished :-) .

I used Aloe as gel in Hawaii. It actually doesn’t leave your hair sticky.
