Furniture Dollars: 1 Tuna = 44 Dining Sets

by ericl on January 28, 2009

Bluefin tuna is a gourmet food.  A few weeks ago a Hong Kong sushi bar owner paid $104,400 for a 282 pound bluefin tuna.  That’s about $370 a pound.

Come here fishy fishy....

Do I have $104?? Sold to the HK Man.

Eat it formally
Since the fish was so expensive, I think it should be served on a nice formal dining room table set.  Speaking about that set I would be able to get almost 44 dining room sets at $2385 a set with $104,400.00.

Sheesh.  One fish.  44 dining tables.  And not to mention the 264 chairs that would come with it too.

Fish Profits
No wonder sushi bars charge so much for the food.  And to think I always thought they made so much money charging me $20 for 4 pieces of fish.  That Hong Kong sushi bar owner must be making a lot of money to afford that fish.

That’s just seems a little too much.  What do you think?
