Happy New Year!
This is not what you think. There may or may not be what you believe are the traditional things for the home in this post. This is what I think a home should have. So to break in the New Year, here are some of the things I would love for my home when I start my family.

Don't let this pretty living room fool you.
The top 10 on my list that I would like in my home (and maybe yours too ;-p):

I Prefer Dogs
10 – A Pet. I like dogs but I think cats can be just as fun for all you cat lovers. It’s just so cozy and welcoming to have someone be there to greet you and so excited to see you when you come home.
9 – Hobby/Play Room. I’d use this room for watching movies and playing video games. A place I can just have fun and not have to worry about putting things away. (Maybe a drum set, haha, j/k honey)

Life can be grand.
8 – A Grand Piano. Well this is more for me because not all of you may play the piano. But a grand piano also makes a living room so much more up scale.
7 – Reading Room. It would be nice if the reading room had one of those bay windows and a lot of soft fabric couches to lie down on a lazy afternoon to read (or to take a nap…zzz).

Where's my tie?
6 – A Big Closet. This one is for the wife and me. Remember Sex in the City ladies? A big closet is just to die for and I would agree it is something nice to have so that our nice clothes aren’t crammed way in some drawer or boxes.
5 – An Awesome Washer and Dryer Set. GE set the

Looks like a Spaceship
standard to make these things last. But I’ve seen and used some that have lasted since the 1970s. That gets kind of crazy. Because if you’ve seen the new ones you’d think you were in the age of the Jetson’s. The new ones do so much from nicely washing dedicates all the way up to dry cleaning. And besides they save energy and water and won’t sound like it’s about to blow up or eat your children.

Coffee Anyone?
4 – Nice coffee maker. I prefer a quality coffee made right at home. It’d also be nice if it was one of those coffee maker sets that had the milk steamer and all the gadgets I probably won’t even know how to use.
3 – Outdoor grill and wok. Especially with the gas line directly connected. Food just tastes better where the flame kisses the meat or when a cooked on red hot wok iron stir fried.
2 – A wine cabinet. Keeps the wine from going bad if the temp is controlled, and it just makes the kitchen look so darned good looking.

Anyone for a Panini?
1 – Chef Grade Kitchen. Yes, I am talking about stainless still range tops and ovens. I like shiny things and a shiny kitchen would not escape my home. I’d most likely be spending 70% of my free time in a kitchen, so it better be pimped out!
You may have noticed that the top 4 things have something to do with food and cooking. All family gatherings and friend-get-togethers always involve good drinks and food. So I think a home must provide for a grand prepared meal. And a home is all topped off with good company which is when I can host my friends and family to a cozy gathering.
Happy New Year! I wish everyone a great 2009!!!
