If you just moved into a new home, good chances are you need to furnish your rooms and get some bedroom furniture. However, I do notice that fully furnishing your bedroom alone can cost thousands of dollars. So you ask yourself and look at your wallet where the money has gone to your gas, and say “What do I sleep on? Where do I put my clothes?” Well, like many out there today, new homeowners tend to gradually go for the furnish as you go approach, so that way you can get what you need for the basics of bedroom furniture.
#1 – Take care of where you will sleep first. If you don’t care too much about style, you can save money temporarily buy getting a mattress and a box spring to go on top of it just to put directly onto the ground. The key thing is the ensure you make yourself comfortable and able to get good rest. Be sure to get a good mattress because no matter the look of the bed, you want to be comfortable. Now if you need to get a bed frame, then you can get a metal bed frame if your budget is tight, as wood frames tend to be more expensive.
#2 – Figure out where to put your clothes. Finally, now that you are comfortably rested up, then lets be sure to figure out where all the clothes you have all over the floor will be stored. Mostly, if you can afford one, a 6 drawer dresser will do the trick. Not only will you be able to use it to store your clothing nicely with ample storage space, the dresser can double as a table area for simple needs as compared to a chest which would be too high for the use. So if you are going to need to organize your room, use the closet and go for a dresser.
#3 – Accessorize when you have the chance. Now that you have solved your basic needs of rest and organization, you should be ready to accessorize on the final stage of fulfilling the basic needs of your bedroom. If you haven’t already, I think getting nice window dressings will serve to give you a way to control the outside-light-in ambience as well as improve the overall look of the bedroom. Then of course, you can move onto the night stand, chest, and vanity tables along the way.
So with a mattress, bed, dresser, and some window dressings you should be quite comfortable and satisfied with your bedroom without spending too much money. But overall, make sure you can get some good rest first, and then worry about upgrading the details as you get your bedroom furniture.
