So, you want to purchase some natural furniture for your living room. Well depending on who you ask a natural tree-stump side table is a trendy option major furniture retailers are promoting, but is it safe for the environment.
On the one hand, there was very little needed to produce this side table, other than God’s own hand in it. It is made from fallen cypress wood (so they say) and it comes fully assembled (I would hope so). Obviously it’s been polished down and cosmetically refinished, but it is environmentally friendly?
However, pressed wood (or particle board) is made from smaller pieces of wood so they they can be processed and uniform to make solid larger pieces of wood. Certified particle board is made of 100% recycled wood which can save 10,000 trees a day!
Regardless, when businesses are finally aware that consumers want more eco-friendly furniture it will become more readily available and far less expensive.
