| Today I’m going to discuss the differences between Counter Height Dining Tables and Chairs against Standard Height Dining Tables and Chairs. Mainly, Counter Height Dining is represented by chairs (or barstools) at a height of 40″ to 46″ with roughly a 26″ to 30″ seat height, paired with tables that are about 36″ to 40″ tall. Compare this to standard height dining chairs, which are usually 30″ to 35″ tall with a seat height that’s roughly 18-20 inches. Standard dining table height is typically about 30″.
This shows that counter height dining is typically about 10″ taller, creating a wholly different look and feel for the entire room ambience. Furniture shoppers and home buyers will notice that counter height table sets and pub style tables are becoming quite a trend. So trendy, in fact, that the Counter Height Dining Table is the fastest growing segment in the dining furniture segment in the past 5 years. While not particularly used as a replacement for standard dining tables when it comes to formal dining and dining nooks, counter-height dining provides a casual bar imitation that’s perfect for offset corners of the kitchen and dining area, as well as a creative replacement for a breakfast table set. An important difference between the two types of furniture is that Counter Height Tables are almost always round or square, not rectangular. As a result, everyone sits around the table, and the table has no “head”. The only drawback is that this design requires a larger squared room, as oppose to a long rectangular room. Counter Height Dining is in style, so if you have a good nook in your house for this furniture set, you’re in luck. |
