World of Feng Shui

by futonL on May 29, 2008

The ancient art of Feng Shui has captivated the Western culture because of it’s logic and mysticism.  Not only are people studying feng-shui, but they also practice it in their home and at the work place.  Recently McDonald’s has jumped on the mysticism of feng shui by including more of the 5 elements of nature into their stores.  The five elements include metal, earth, wood, water, and fire.

With the balance of the five (and possibly any specific benefit you might want to emphasize) one can increase the opportunities for a more healthy, proserous, and harmonious life.

Logically speaking, the benefits of feng shui really lies in the common sense aspect of interior decorating.  If you think about the use of the room (or establishment) and the ‘flow’ of everyday traffic, you have already touched upon the major concepts of feng shui.   For instance, the reality show called “Life in the Fab Lane” with Kimora Lee Simmons briefly touched upon some major aspects of feng shui that makes a lot of sense.  The ‘feng shui expert’ noticed that Kimora’s office had a sharp corner pointing directly at her which translates to ‘danger’.  The ‘expert’ remedied this by suggesting that Kimora should simply put a tall plant in that corner it would reduce that danger.

Now, I don’t believe that she was in any particular danger of that corner (unless she tripped and hit herself on the corner) but I do believe that adding room accessories like a potted plant does help bring a dull room interior feel more pleasant.

Instead of boring you with more feng shui mysticism, I will leave you with one tip:  Place an indoor water fountain in your home, position in a favourable area to attract whatever you want in your life.  Anything from a table fountain or a stand-alone foutain will greatly improve life in that area (or simply be a humidifier for you home.)  Read everything you need to know on feng shui on the internet.
