Some new families find it difficult to decorate their home while planning to start a family. Let us face it, children’s furniture and children’s toys do not go well with granite counter tops and and silk draperies. But there are ways you can easily keep your home yours without decorating with potential dangers to your child.

Designated Playroom: choose a part of your home that you child can play in. This room should be part of the core of your home that your child can play safely and grow their first memories. As parents, you should actively be apart of this room. Consider putting a few ’safe’ grown up toys in the room for you to enjoy while your child plays.
Childproofing: Your kitchen, bathroom and playroom should have child safety devices such as safety latches, toilet locks, outlet protectors (safety caps), anti-scalding devices, and cords /rope safely tucked away. Safety gates are a great way to keep you child out of trouble if he/she likes to roam around the house.
Constant Supervision: The best safely prevention tool, is you being with your child. Avoid, when possible, leaving your child unsupervised.
Furniture: Some furniture are better than others when it comes to child safety. Rounded edges, sturdy, and non-glass furniture are great traits of ’safe’ furniture, however, please review child safety websites for more detail and information.
