I just watched Oceans 13 and was completely grossed out when the 5 Star Diamond Hotel Review guy flipped over the covers and looked at the mattress with a bacteria scope of some sort and the planted bugs were moving all over the place (~~shivers~~). Well, hopefully you don’t have people planting bed begs in your bed, and here are a few tips to help you take care of your mattress and maintain it over the years you use it.
Tip 1: Get a mattress cover – this will add an extra layer of protection to your mattress and prolong the time for needed cleanings of the mattress itself. Get a mattress cover that is washable and some are even made of materials that minimize bed bug allergies.
Tip 2: Vacuum your mattress – using the upholstery attachment from your vacuum, clean off the dust, dirt, and bed bugs. This helps people with allergies as quite a lot of dust can accumulate in between your sheets without you knowing it.
Tip 3: “Rotate” and flip your mattress – to keep the even-ness of your mattress, flip and rotate your mattress so that your head used to be where your legs were. Lumpy mattresses arise from uneven sleeping caused by overuse in a position of your body over the years. So, like you would rotating the tires of your car, you can even out the wear and tear throughout your mattress to keep it in better overall shape.
I hope these tips help you clean up your mattress and avoid those pesty bed begs and keep you comfortable.
