CNN reports that comedian Mark Malkoff, who works for the Colbert Report on Comedy Central, has moved into his local Ikea store in New York City because his New York City apartment was being fumigated for cockroaches. He has lived there for approximately seven days since January 7, 2008 documenting each day and displaying it on his website.

However, is it possible to live in a furniture store for an entire year? Ikea might very well be the best suited furniture store to allow a person to move into because unlike most furniture stores they have booths that are rooms and plenty of props and accessories to keep your new ‘home’ stylish.
What could you possibly need outside of an Ikea store? They have restrooms, a dining area, and a kids play room! Sure you will have thousands of visitors at times touching and sitting on your furniture, but who does not love company. I’m even sure that the cleaning staff will handle every mess and problem that you might have.
Although it might be suitable for some, I think staying in an warehouse converted storefront might be a tad creepy. Besides, the amount of furniture that Ikea sells and how much time people spend time in Ikea people practically live in Ikea.
Cheers to Mark for giving us something to laugh about.
