Platform Beds, also known as loft beds, have been the new craze for bedroom furniture, and we expect them to be the biggest bedroom piece in 2008. Platform beds are widely sought after because many interior decorators suggests that platform beds match better with more modern and contemporary furniture that is popular today.
Typically, platform beds are made with either wood or metal. The more popular of the two materials is wood, however it is usually painted to match the room or other furniture. One further distinction is that most platform beds lack a foot board (footboard) because it further emphasizes the open air-ness of the bed.
Nevertheless, platform beds can be a great addition to your new home. Since most platform beds are designed without a box spring you will have more opportunities to define the height of your bed to your liking.
