2008 will be a pivotal year for new home buyers and the economy. In 2007, we have seen our interest rates cut by the Fed after growing concerns over the surplus of new homes and the weary economy. Most analysts believe that 2008 will have an equally dire future because there is no confidence that the economy can recover from home owners who are defaulting on their sub-prime loans. As of today, the Fed announced that additional rate cuts might be needed to ease the imminent recession. Sales channels such as Amazon, Walmart, and even Visiondecor are taking no chances.
The consumer furniture industry are ready to take necessary steps to encourage the purchasing of furniture online. Most furniture manufacturers are turning to drop ship companies and holding less stock to reduce overhead and reduce lead time for more popular items.
However, the consumer should be aware that heavily discounted furniture usually comes with a considerably longer lead time than usual.
