Tall dining tables, also known as counter height dining tables, usually varies in height from 36″ in height to 38″ in height. Typically, dining tables are only 30″ in height, however the extra 6″ to the table, people can achieve more of a bar setting in their very own home. The popularity of “tall dining tables” has increased over the last few years and we feel that it will become more common piece of furniture in the home.

Tall Dining Tables

Most of the popularity of tall dining tables stems from the casual night life of pubs and bars. Tall dining tables are great at restaurants because it does not allow unexpected visitors to tower over guests who are sitting at the bar. If a visitor decides to introduce himself to a group of ladies at the bar, he can do so without standing over the ladies and he could look at the lady he is interested in face to face (instead of face to torso).

At home, the tall dining table is great as a work area or a casual dining table because it has such versatile features. It can be a very sophisticated piece of furniture that looks stunning aside of your dining room set. Normally, large homes do not make everyday use of the main dining room set because it is where families displays their fine china and centerpieces. However, tall dining room tables are very suitable for everyday use and it is convenient to leave your work on this table when you need to take a break. Additionally, there is no need to decorate or display centerpieces on a tall dining table because the style is very casual; however, people have chosen to place a candle, a small flower pot, or picture frame in the center of the table for decoration.

Lastly, if you plan on purchasing a tall dining table, please take into consideration additional tall dining chairs or barstools for added seating. Barstools can be easily tucked away underneath the tall dining table or stashed away into storage closet for future use.

The tall dining table in the photo looks awesome. I would love to have one but I don’t know if it will suit my dining room.
