The trendiest accessory over the last few years have been the loyal pet. Small dogs have been the latest craze, however, most people do not know how to house train their dog so that they do not destroy their home.

Here are some quick tips you should keep in mind while you house train your dog:
- Doggy living area: This area should be quite small. The dog should have a sense of where he should be and where he shouldn’t. If you confine the dog to a small area while playing or allowing him to relax, you will have better control over where your dog will freely roam around in the future. Training your dog to accept his room/sleeping area is key in house training him when you are not home.
- Daily doggy days: For the first few months, it might be a good idea to monitor your dogs habits and personality. If you can catch bad habits before they start, like chewing on your coat rack out of boredom or barking, you will save your self a few hundred dollars by no replacing your sofa and your other furniture that is placed on the ground as well as a good nights rest.
- Doggy duty: Lets face it, your dog will need to relieve himself sometime. If you establish his living area, and monitor his habits, you will never have a problem with training your do to go where you want him to. By monitoring his habits (see above), and feed him regularly, you will be able to establish his duty area by simply escorting him to a specified area every time he is scheduled to go.
Well, that’s about it. Your new best friend is ready to be house trained, and before you know it, he will be off to college and spend you money effortlessly.
Cheers!
