Exercise is an important thing in life, especially during the year end holiday season when we need to burn off those turkey, ham, prime rib, steak dinner calories we all enjoy at the holiday dinner table, but do you ever think your very own homeplace furniture home gym? Well, if you are strapped for cash or just want some convenient exercise tips, here’s a way to make use of the home gym you already have at your leisure. Be creative, be healthy, use your homeplace furniture gym to stay fit.
Introducing “Bo-Furniture” Part 1, your home gym stretching guide. (Please be assured that no Stick Figures were hurt during the making of this furniture home gym production, so please pardon the art, it was the best I could do):
Part 1 – Stretching – Start out with some stretches with any of your dining chairs:
Downward facing dog – stretch our your shoulder and back muscles. Use a dining chair stand behind it facing the chair and place your hands on the edge of the seat back. Now, slowly step back until your arms are stretched out and your upper body is parallel to the floor and your face is facing down. Breath in and out press down with your upper body by keeping your hands on the seat back while allowing your back to curve down a little. Feel the muscles on your shoulder and back stretch.

Chair Twist - stretch out your lower back on both the left and right side. Again, you can use your dining chair like normal, and then slowly turn to a side with your hands grabbing the seat back. Breath in and stretch your back to that one side. Then breath out and move toward the other side while using your hands to grab the seat back again. Leverage your force by using your hands to pull more to that side.

Leg Stretch – sit on your chair as normal and stretch out one leg. Then lean your upper body onto that side to stretch out your thigh and leg muscles. Sit back up straight and repeat with your other.

–Stay tuned for workouts to build up on muscle and body strength–
Please note that these are just creative suggestions and in no way should be construed as professional exercise advice. As always, use your best judgment and only do exercises that you feel comfortable and capable of doing with the suggested pieces of homeplace furniture. Have a happy and healthy holidays to everyone!
