Napoleon style chairs, now how did one of history’s most powerful tyrants end up with his name tagged to a piece of furniture? It’s kind of like the Mongolian BBQs you see at the food courts named “Genghis Kahn’s”. Sometimes I wonder if people are honoring or defacing a historical figure. The only other person I know of recent may be Napoleon Dynamite, but nevertheless there are a group of chairs that you find in many retail stores tagged as Napoleon style chairs, which mostly look like the following (and nothing like Napoleon or Napoleon Dynamite at all).
An example of Napoleon chairs found at Visiondecor’s online furniture store:
You can find these at major retail mall chains going for $1,200 for a set of 4 side chairs and 2 arm chairs. But if you spend a little time bargain hunting, you can find comparable styles sold everywhere on the internet for as little as $50 for each chair. There are many varieties of styles, ranging from dark to light wood frames and differently patterned fabric covered cushioned seating. These chairs are a great traditional style for a decorator looking to upgrade their dining room or kitchen area.
I find that this is a nice and simple style chair, which I why I don’t understand why it would be termed Napoleon Style. Do you see any resemblance?

Because mostly, the era of Napoleon furniture is termed Emperor Furniture, which are the type of furniture you see in museums with all the carving and gold all over it. I would think Napoleon would find it an insult to use his name for furniture, but at least it is becoming as popular as he is. All in all, Napoleon style chairs are found common for simple upgrades and traditional decor uses, and maybe some of you readers out there can post some comments to figure out why Napoleon would be tagged as such.
