Vanity sets, also known as dressing tables, are frequently used by people to prepare for work by putting on make-up and also to perform the nightly ritual prior to going to sleep. The first vanity sets were a simple folding table and hand painted, but as their popularity increased they developed into exquisitely decorated, specialized objects that demanded the highest standard of craftsmanship from cabinetmakers.
